Welcome to the Bristol and District branch of Parkinson's UK
Taking part in research is vital in determining which therapies work in treating Parkinson’s. New treatments will only become available after they have been tested in those volunteers affected by the condition. It also enables more accurate diagnoses, better predictions of future disease progression and more insight into the biology of the condition.
Below are some organisations who fund and report on research and provide details of projects requiring volunteers
Each year, members of the Cure Parkinson’s research team collaborate with Parkinson’s research advocates and The Michael J. Fox Foundation to present an overview on the current clinical trials landscape for Parkinson’s. The 2024 report, now published in the Journal of Parkinson’s Disease (JPD), marks the fifth year of this effort. Read it by clicking on logo
Parkinsons UK has been contacted by a Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) researcher who is interested in talking to older people who are not digitally skilled or connected and who are consequently digitally excluded. DWP would like to understand more about their experiences so they can feed into the design and development of future digital services.
DWP are keen to include the experiences of people who live with disability and experience ill-health, hence them getting in touch with us.
The research would take the form of a 1:1 discussion over the phone or in-person interviews with people who find digital services hard to engage with. In-person interviews can take place anywhere in the UK.
DWP are offering a £25 Love2Shop voucher (which can be used in many high-street stores) as a mark of appreciation for participants' time.
If you would be interested in taking part in this research, please contact the researcher, Fiona Cuthill directly: Fiona.Cuthill@dwp.gov.uk
